The Wild West action-adventure Six Guns just hit the App Store. The game is free to play, you can download it without any cost. Six Guns is available as an universal app which is optimized for both iPhone and iPad.
Last year, Rockstar Games presented how a good western action-adventure game needs to be designed when they published Red Dead Redemption. Now Gameloft has adopted both the setting and the gameplay, naming the result Six Guns. This game is now available at the App Store for no costs.
You play Buck Crosshaw who has already shot everyone who deserved it. But now he’s an outlaw and his only chance is to fake his death and move to Arizona. However, this doesn’t quite work so well and now it’s up to you to play the 40 missions. They consist of such modes like horse races, kill bandits, escape from enemies. Additionally, you can collect 8 horses, 19 weapons and a wide range of outfits and ammunition. If you do not want to play to unlock those items, you may buy this stuff in-app. The developers emphasize that nobody actually needs to buy anything to play the game; nothing is exclusive to buyers.
To play Six Guns, you need to download the 422 MB app off the App Store. Several languages are included. Since it’s an universal app, it contains both the iPhone and iPad version of the game. You need at least an iPhone 3GS (iPhone 4 or 4S recommended), iPod touch 3G (4G recommended) or any iPad. Lastly, your installed operating system needs to be iOS 3.1.3 or newer. To get you the idea of the game, we attached a trailer and a bunch of screenshots.
Opinion: If you ask me this freemium is a nice way to test out a game. If they would not force people to decide between buying or being patient to move further along.
